News of 16th June 1997

Last weekend was a sad weekend for Team Prost and for F1 in general: One of the best actual F1 drivers, Olivier Panis of Team Prost had a terrible accident at the Canadian Grand Prix. Olivier has suffered double fractures to both his legs. At the moment, he is in the Sacre-Coeur hospital in Canada, where he already has been operated. But he will not drive a F1 car at least for the next three months due to Dr. Watkins - GET WELL SOON, OLIVIER!

The other Team Prost-driver, Shinji Nakano has won his first point at the same race. Shinji said, that he is happy for the point, but at the same time very sad because of Olivier's accident...

Alain arrived 10 hours later in Montreal, than it was expected, Thursday at 23 o'clock... "Air France" had to replace a window of the Boeing 747, with which Alain flew to Montreal...

Another story from Montreal has been told to me: On Friday before the race, two security men carried a boy out of the Prost pits, holding his arms and legs, because he didn't have a pass. The boy said, that he is a guest of Team Prost, but that didn't help him at all... Olivier Panis saw this and helped the boy, who walked around with a Prost VIP-Pass some minutes later...
