News of 8th March 1997

On 9th March 1997, the first out of 17 Grand Prix of the 1997-season will take place in Melbourne/Australia. And the first F1-race in 1997 will be the first race of the new Prost-Mugen Honda as well. Alain Prost arrived on the circuit on Wednesday, 5th March. Alain said, that he can't await the race. He is confident, because the winter tests of the new Prost-Mugen Honda were "not bad at all", like Alain said in an interview with German private TV-channel"RTL".

Alain said, that he had a lot of stress the last weeks, and he never had time to sit down and relax, because, each time, when a problem was solved, a new problem was there and sometimes, he had doubts, if the whole project will come to a good end this time, because his last attempts were not successful at the end. Alain said, that he worked 15 hours per day in the last days. And he thinks, that it is easier to work as a F1-driver than as a teamboss, because a driver can say what he wants and change a team, if he doesn't like to work any longer for the same team. Alain can't change to another team now and has to think about what he says much more than he did as a driver...

The most important thing for Alain is "to progress, to progress from race to race". And, of course, he wants to be at the top in 1998. Let's hope that he will progress...

In an interview with Swiss newspaper "BLICK", Alain's driver Olivier Panis has been asked, if he has any problems with the new team owner Alain Prost. His answer: "No, we are friends. Alain knows all the tricks in Formula 1, and all the ninety team-members are really motivated. And if it should be necessary, Alain Prost can even test the LIGIER himself! Sorry, I mean the PROST-HONDA, of course. But even Alain says still LIGIER sometimes."

Oliver Panis thinks, that he will have the possibility to fight for the Worldchampionship. He said, that Villeneuve and Frentzen will surely be at the top. But he thinks, that he will be somewhere between Schumacher, Berger and Alesi.

Well, that would really be better than expected by myself - ALLEZ, LES PROST!
